On Thursday night we got to visit/play one of the most magical places we’ve seen on this tour. If you’re ever near Becket, MA (even just kinda near) you MUST go to the Dream-Away Lodge, eat their delicious food, hang out on the grounds (there’s a couple beautiful gardens + a fire pit) and stay for the live music. The place has been around for 90 years and is sort of a legend, rumored to have been a brothel and speakeasy during the great depression, visited by Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez and Allen Ginsberg in the 70′s and now run by ring leader Daniel Osman, who was so generous to us (feeding us, housing us in the ‘shack’ for the night – what kind of ‘shack’ has a sauna??, and charming the crowd into tipping us generously). It’s a truly beautiful place and I hope we get to go back soon.
